A discharge test verifies that every emergency luminaire and central battery system delivers the full 3-hour duration required by BS 5266-1. We carry out this test using safe isolation procedures, recording the start time, condition of every fitting and confirmation of full recovery once mains is restored. We then issue the BS 5266-1 model inspection and test certificate and update your site log book. Monthly function tests can be carried out by site staff or as part of a Lumacore service visit. Self-test luminaires simplify this — the integral electronics initiate a short test cycle and report failures via LED status indicators. We also commission and maintain centrally-addressable systems from manufacturers such as Hochiki FIREscape, Mackwell N3 and ABB DALI emergency. Failed fittings are replaced like-for-like wherever possible, with LED upgrades offered for end-of-life conventional fittings. All work is third-party certified and traceable. We provide annual testing contracts across Newcastle Upon Tyne, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland and Teesside.
